The UK taxi industry runs on software written before the smartphone. Most operators are paying monthly for systems that were architected when Tony Blair was still PM. The result: dispatchers fighting clunky interfaces, drivers stuck with bloated apps, and customers calling competitors when the line rings out.

We built CAB-X because the alternative was acceptable to nobody but the incumbents. Cloud-native from the first commit, real-time by default, designed around what operators actually do. No on-site servers, no Windows-only terminals, no upgrade fees, no five-year contracts.

Our mission is straightforward: every UK taxi, private hire, and minicab operator, from a single owner-operator to a multi-depot enterprise fleet, should have access to dispatch software that’s as fast, modern, and reliable as the systems Uber built for itself. That’s the bar.

Why we built CAB-X

The frustrations we kept hearing.

Before we wrote a line of code, we sat in dispatch rooms, drove with drivers, and called as customers. Three things came up everywhere.

“The system is slower than the phone.”

Dispatchers were faster than their software. Watching them tab between three windows to do what should be one click told us most of what we needed to know about UI. CAB-X was designed around how dispatchers actually move, not how a 2008 product manager imagined they would.
